  • The School Leadership for Global Dimension project update - 4 Headteacher meetings have taken place, with the last one set up as a dialogue with an Ofsted Inspector. Material from these discussions will be used to develop a CPD Tool which it is hoped will be of national interest. The second Project Advisory Group meeting took place on 23 April at NCSL and will focus on the tranistion from phase 1 (Headteacher meetings) to phase 2 (CPD Tool).
  • Skillshare International who host EMNGPS have had a re-structuring. All UK-based projects will now report to Jane Carter. EMNGPS would like to take this opportunity to extend sincere thanks to Amanda Khozi Mukwashi, Head of External Relations at Skillshare, who has been the key point of liaison up to now. EMNGPS wishes Amanda well in her new role as Head of Programmes at Skillshare International.
  • EMNGPS Conference and AGM was held on 30 April - 1 May 2009. Feedback from the conference has been generally positive with the Globe United session attracting particularly positive praise. The concerns raised by both the format of the AGM and the City of Sanctuary session have been followed up and actioned. Changes will be made to the way the AGM is run next year.
    - Alex Kosogorin (MUNDI) was elected as Chair of EMNGPS.
    - Bev Milner (Nottingham City Council) was re-elected as Vice Chair.
    - Linda Barker (Global Education Derby) and Kate Nash (Headteacher at Silverhill Primary School) were elected as new Executive Committee members, bringing their leadership experience to the group.
    - Linda Webster ( Scargill Primary School) and Kumba Jallow (Skillshare Trustee) were re-elected as Executive Committee members.
    - Helen Trilling (Leicestershire County Council), Brian Cavanagh (Derbyshire County Council) and Danielle Stone (Northamptonshire County Council) continue as Executive Committee members.
    - Tony Hartley (Rushcliffe Secondary School) resigned from the Executive Committee.
  • EMNGPS Fundraising help. EMNGPS would like to start building up financial reserves so that it can continue functioning post 2013 when DFID funding ends. The Executive Committee would therefore like to invite EMNGPS members with proven fundraising experience to contact Rohini by Monday 29 June if they would like to put themselves forward to raise funds for EMNGPS. Depending on the response from members, there may need to be a selection process. EMNGPS would agree terms of reference and pay for their time.
  • Community Cohesion Working Group - The EMNGPS Executive Committee has decided that no further meetings of this group are arranged because attendance at the last meeting was so low. EMNGPS is however keen to support members develop their understanding of the Community Cohesion agenda, and to facilitate regional sharing. Please do send in your suggestions for how this could be done
  • Bev Milner has resigned from her International Dimension post at Nottingham City Council and will finish on 31 August. I am sure that many EMNGPS members will join me in wanting to say a huge thank you for the energy and expertise that Bev has brought to EMNGPS.
