Key Dates
1 March: Deadline for Locality Group Action Plans for 2009-10
Costed plans need to be sent to Rohini so that the Executive Committee have time to consider them before the allocation meeting on 10 March.
7 March: Lisa Young's Memorial
Lisa's memorial has been planned for 2 p.m. on Saturday 7th March 2009 where three Willow trees (Salix alba Chermesina) will be planted near the lake on the Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham. Leahman and members of Lisa's family will be attending. We will be collecting donations towards the cost of the trees and commemorative plaque. If you are able to donate please send cheques payable to MUNDI at the address on the website. www.mundi.org.uk
The format will be:
1:30 p.m. B73, School of Education - guests arrive for light refreshments
2 p.m. Formal speeches, tree planting
2:30 p.m. B73 - light refreshments, informal speeches (anyone who would like to say something can do), video of Lisa at work,
music and possibly singing, drinks and refreshments
3:30 p.m. Retire to a local pub
If you think you will be able to come, please let Alex Kosogorin know so that refreshments can be provided for everyone.
30 April - 1 May EMNGPS Residential Conference and AGM
Venue to be confirmed. The theme of the residential conference will be how EMNGPS members can support primary, secondary and special schools to use the Global Dimension to deliver a holistic curriculum incorporating current strategic educational agenda eg, Every Child Matters, Community Cohesion, revised curricula. A programme and invitations will be sent out shortly.
If you would like to put yourself forward for the EMNGPS Executive Committee or share your expertise through a Working Group (Funding, Monitoring and Evaluation) please contact Rohini for details of what is involved. It would be great to see cross-sectoral and regional representation is all parts of the EMNGPS network.

EMNGPS Updates
DFID Visit on 21 January: The DFID visit to Leicester was a great success with Local Authorities, Locality Groups, Schools and Regional Networks sharing their work in engaging and creative ways. A big Thank you to all those who took part, DFID left saying they were really inspired.
Annual Plan: The EMNGPS Annual Plan for 2009-10 has been submitted to DFID. EMNGPS wants to make particular progress on mainstreaming the Global Dimension in Initial Teacher Education this year.
Skillshare International Away Day: Annette and Rohini gave a short creative presentation about the work and progress of EMNGPS at a Skillshare away day which was well received.
The Community Cohesion Working Group's February meeting had to be cancelled because of the snow but a new date is being agreed to enable educators to share their ideas and expertise.
Meeting four of the School Leadership Project in March will involve an Ofsted Inspector outlining what contribution the GD can make to school improvement. The Headteacher group has also generated ideas for a CPD tool.
Rohini and EMNGPS members have met with the Directors of Children's Services in Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Leicester City to make them aware of EMNGPS's role. Further meetings are planned with other authorities around the region.

Locality Group Updates
The Nottingham/shire Locality Group organised a successful Key Stage 3 conference at which David Gardener from the QCA highlighted the importance of the Global Dimension and ESD in the revised secondary curriculum.
The Leicester/shire Locality Group held another successful meeting with 25 schools and providers eager to engage. Various members from the group also delivered a one day Global Citizenship conference to ITE students at Leicester University.
The Derby/shire Locality Group held a themed meeting about Community Cohesion, Identity and Diversity at Langley Mill Junior School which was well-attended and enabled peer learning.
Lincolnshire are discussing the recommendations of the scoping report to ascertain how the Local Authority can provide sustainable support to schools on the Global Dimension, International Perspectives and ESD.
Northamptonshire have run further European awareness events for young people.
Rutland plan to hold their first Locality Group meeting to follow up the ESD/GD conference.
